June for WMCO members was a particularly full month with two online networking events and our first cohort meeting for members that have already signed up for the Health & Safety Excellence Program.
On June 3rd, the collecting topic was on Government Funding Programs currently available. It featured Bernadeen McLeod, Founder of Mentor Works as our guest speaker, presenting in detail how companies of various sizes can tap into funding programs and providing information on what applicants can do to ensure a high degree of success when submitting. Mentor Works is an organization that exclusively focuses on helping companies apply and achieve their highest potential for success in Government Funding.
June 17th brought about a doubleheader topic attracting and retaining talent as well as the subject of cybersecurity. Companies continue to experience security breaches within their corporate infrastructure that can have devastating impacts on the business.
The event’s 1st presentation featured the CEO of MIT Consulting, Erez Zevulunov, a Canadian company with 18 years in business serving clients ranging from SME, Education, Federal, Municipal, Healthcare & Manufacturing. Zevulunov highlighted three pillars that influence a company’s vulnerability to cyber hacking and plans of preventative measures to take.
Moving along in the event, Julie Ruben Rodney, Founder of Max People with Estrella Frias, Partner & Talent Leader, was on hand to illustrate ways that businesses are finding new ways to attract talent for their workforce. The discussion included the general makeup of the workforce and how candidates for jobs are approaching employers, and what they seek and care about most.
The Online Networking Event featured another successful execution of the WMCO’s new networking capabilities on the user-friendly platform: Wonder.Me. with speaker presentations remain on the familiar Zoom. Members continue to express how many are finding the online networking with Wonder.Me a refreshing experience from traditional Zoom and say it’s more social, connective, and realistic to in-person networking. Join us if you haven’t tried it yet.
