A film crew from CTV’s Provincewide news program came to visit the BWA to learn more about the alliance and the wood products manufacturing renaissance in the area. Bogdon and Gross hosted a CTV crew, who did a feature on the BWA and the wood products manufacturing industry renaissance in Southwestern Ontario. The crew spent time around the B&G plant, filming assembly processes and interviewing one of the employees. Adam Hofmann, president of B&G Furniture was interviewed extensively, serving as a solid representative for our industry. Two other members of the BWA board of directors – Dennis McGlynn of South...

In a very positive development for the wood products manufacturing industry in Grey and Bruce counties, the Bluewater District School Board has decided to adopt the WoodLINKS™ curriculum in their high schools in Chesley and Kincardine. Brent Beck will lead the program at Chesley District High School and Bryan Derksen will integrate the curriculum into his construction program at Kincardine District Secondary School. The programs will help train students for entry-level jobs within the industry, as well as give them a good background knowledge base to take into post-secondary programs in wood products production that are available through schools like...

It’s all about getting together. 3rd Networking meeting in Walkerton is biggest yet! The sunny early winter weather contributed to a great turnout for the 3rd Networking meeting of the Bluewater Wood Alliance on December 7. The crowd of 55 people gathered at the Walkerton Clean Water Centre to learn the latest about finishes, finishing equipment and training for sprayers. Co-manager, Sepp Gmeiner, opened up the meeting with an update on the progress shown by the BWA since the last meeting in September.
