This year’s June Networking Event was hosted in Guelph at Linamar’s Frank Hasenfratz Centre for Excellence in Manufacturing. Additionally, the WMCO continues to make our member events accessible via a hybrid model of in-person and online (live-streamed). The Guelph Venue also offered an opportunity for members of a tour of the 88,000 sq. ft. facility after the networking event.
The WMCO is currently exploring a potential cost saving partnership with the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) – and in doing so, brought Michael Kirwin, CFIB’s Senior Vice President, Business Development to provide an insight to how their organization supports Canadian Businesses.
Following Kirwin’s discussion, Joe Hentz of Lerners Lawyers returned to another networking event with a deeper dive into contract law – highlighting the unique characteristics, context and definitions related therein. As the presentation unfolded, Hentz reviewed Quotations and Binding Agreements; Digital Contracts; Safeguarding your business against Price Volatility; Reviewing Contracts (Looking for ‘red flags’); and Terms and Conditions of Sale.
Rounding off the networking event presentation, Sherarrd Kuzz Employment Law Firm representatives Colten Lavery and Zack Belane on hand with updates on: the latest changes to employment law and recent Bills past in Ontario courts; what electronic monitoring means for the workplace and what employers are required to provide their employees; as well as information on the Disconnect from Work, Non-competition agreements, and changes affecting the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA).
