Summer has flown by and the BWA members are quick to get back to business with valuable Round Table Exchanges. Read on!
All wood manufacturers have various forms of legislative compliance they must adhere to function as a business in Ontario. As people running businesses, we have to find ways of doing our jobs well and doing them smartly, so you are efficient.
Best practices, policies, procedures are tools that help manufacturers “do their thing.”
The various ministries of our provincial and federal government have rules and regulations to ensure the safety and well being of employees and the environment. The Ministry of Environment has strict regulations on emissions such as noise, dust, solvents, solid wastes, etc.
What a great context to harness the power of clustering!
On August 22, 2013, nine BWA member companies participated in a facilitated round table exchange on the current guidelines for reporting and compliance. The centre of the discussion focused on:
- What are your challenges and successes?
- What are your best practices in tracking and controlling?
- What areas do you need help from other members?
Members exchanged their challenges and successes in all areas of environmental controls, and an outcome of the event is a generated checklist to help companies implement steps to sustain and ensure compliance in all main areas of risk.
Congratulations to all members who participated in this valuable discussion!
If you are a wood manufacturer in southwestern Ontario, you are welcome to join us at our next quarterly networking events Sept 24! Contact BWA manager Mike Baker manager@bluewaterwoodalliance.com if you wish to attend!
See you there!
