Agenda:
- For IT, Marketing, and Business Owners/CEOs: Online/Digital Marketing Strategies for Wood Product Manufacturers: Many of us manufacturers with the BWA are attempting to use the internet to market our products, boost our brand, and increase our market share. But do we really understand how the customer chooses us over another company online? Do we really have our digital marketing strategy integrated with our company’s full marketing plan? Does our digital presence reflect this? What role does Search Engine Optimization really play? For those interested in the U.S. marketplace, what do you put in place to attract web traffic from across the border? All of these questions, plus those you wish to bring for discussion, will be addressed by Richard Picart of Search Engine People. Richard has already helped BWA members demystify how to leverage the web that can best impact your business model. Please come prepared to participate in open Q&A, and bring your questions and challenges and successes to share!
- For Controllers, Accountants, Plant Managers, and Business Owners/CEOs: Profit Improvement Planning for Wood Product Manufacturers: What do successful business owners and managers do to improve bottom-line profits and to ensure price/values are competitive? This remains a challenge for wood product manufacturers with all the variables in producing the product. George Lightfoot of Entrepreneur Support Services has already provided educational presentations to the CKCA in addition to several other industry groups in Ontario. Please come prepared to learn how to develop a profit improvement plan and set measurable goals, see an example of a wood product manufacturer profit improvement plan, understand key financial ratios and how to calculate them. This will also include an open forum for discussion, so bring your questions!
- For Production/Quality Managers, Production Supervisors, and Business Owners/CEOs:Gluing of Panels: The Moving Target: Most of us that manufacture wood products that involves the gluing of panels continue to watch and monitor the quality of the seams we create where we glue two pieces of wood together for our various products. Some of us are satisfied with our process, but continue to look for the latest innovations that can reduce the risk wood swelling and visible glue lines. Microwaving/Radio Frequency (RF) and clamping continue to be the two opposing methods that have their advantages and disadvantages. This open forum discussion and information sharing session will involve manufacturers sharing strategies, best practices and challenges. Taurus Craco will be discussing the latest technologies in the marketplace for RF and clamping. Please come prepared to discuss your challenges and best practices, and to take ideas back to your facility from the discussion!
